“Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” Poetry Reflection


The “Stopping by Woods” poetry board displays my commitment to student learning and my ability to implement various strategies to help students feel comfortable—especially at an immersion school where English language poetry is entirely foreign and probably difficult. The poetry board itself was a great success and my MT loved and adopted the idea in later lessons. She felt that it gave students an opportunity to engage with poetry in their own way and then to help stitch together a classroom picture of the poem in question to facilitate diverse experiences of a singular poem. From a counterfeit Santa Claus theory to some beautifully re-written lines, the poetry collage was definitely one of the most rewarding lessons that I created this year.
